I've been debating on taking a new turn here on Baking in Couture. It's something I've been thinking about for a while and so it's caused me to freeze up a bit, hence the lack of consistent posts. When I started Baking in Couture the blog name came from the need to reflect my main topics. At the time I was really into learning how to bake unique pastries and cakes. I also wanted to force myself to get in front of the camera, which as you can tell I don't do much of.
As I'm getting older, now almost 27, and in a full-time graduate program {you can read more about that here} I find myself wanting to learn how to cook better and live a healthier lifestyle. I especially would like to learn how to cook more Russian, Jewish, and even Persian (for my boyfriend) dishes. You can sort of tell from my last post on a Vegan Russian Style Mushroom Soup. Thinking of blog post ideas inspires me to learn new recipes, crafts, and style tips, which I then take the time to perfect, and of course then share here on the blog. That is why it is important to me that what I share on the blog be congruent with my interests. At the same time I want my topics to interest those who visit the blog.
I've always felt that light cooking, blogs on relationships, life tips, and low calorie baking treats wouldn't fit here on the blog. But lately that's what I'm desiring to post. I guess it's cause I'm a perfectionist at heart and somehow a blog named Baking in Couture to me should only feature the hottest trends and cupcake recipes. As fellow bloggers I'm sure you all know what it feels like to force blog posts that no longer feel natural. Not to say I don't want to ever again bake a full-fat pie or birthday cake. At times I just feel that I should change my blog name to something that doesn't label me into a category. I've always loved the name A Beautiful Mess. Their blog name fits their vast amount of topics perfectly, there really isn't anything they could post about that wouldn't fit. But in changing my name I'd have to update all social media, redesign my blog header; all cost and time consuming options.
As one of a few bloggers amongst my friends and family, I don't really have many to talk to on the matter. So I guess that's why I'm writing this post. What do you guys think and have you every felt the same way? I guess I'm torn on if Baking in Couture the name would fit with a blog that also posts healthy recipes, cultural dishes, makeup tutorials, talks on relationships, life tips, craft projects, at home organization, and much more.
